Mastiffs that have been adopted (continued)

Tara

TaraHere's an update on Tara - She's doing wonderful! She is finally coming into her own.We walk the kids to the bus every morning. When the bus comes she steps in front of the door to block their path. I bribe her with a dog bone so she'll move out of the way. It really is sweet. All the kids on the bus call out to her. At night she checks to make sure they're all in their beds and then heads down stairs for the couch (we pretend we don't notice her on it!) She is very well behaved comes when called, sits, goes down, working on stay. She's friendly towards all the neighbors so I'm glad about that. She loves riding in the car and thinks every time we go out she can come with us. For the most part she wins. She is getting more active - beginning to chase the kids around the house and the squirrels outside - didn't think she could move that fast! We took her to the vets-she had two mild ear infections but otherwise is in great shape. After knowing our last dog they were very impressed with how calm Tara is  even as they were cleaning her ears. They fight over who gets to walk her so we have to have days scheduled. I finally heard her bark for the first time when the kids were out in the snow. And yes, she is beginning to wiggle - really wiggle!

Thanks again!

Moose

Moose  Moose 2

Moose was fairly thin, had a poor coat and was covered in fleas when put into rescue. She is getting along with the foster home male mastiffs ok, though needs to be fed separately as she will try to take the other dogs food. She is playful and athletic, gaining weight and getting more affectionate every day. Her coat is improving, too. She knows the basic commands and walks fairly well on leash. She was an owner give-up.

Gideon - formerly known as Arnold

GideonJust a little update on Gideon. Little did I know that the timid, trembling puppy I picked up would so quickly adapt and steal our hearts. He has become very comfortable in his new home. He knows what is his and what isn't. This is one very loving boy who seems to think his natural place is in your lap. He's putting on weight and is doing really well with new people and animals. He passed his vet debut with flying colors and was the hit of the office (he seems to love women telling him how pretty he is). My wife, surprisingly enough, (she was raised with small dogs) is a very proud new parent who is continually bragging and showing pictures. Many thanks to MCOA! You've made one dog and all people connected to him very happy

Bull

Bull

Bull was given up by his owner for lack of time. Bull's new mom sent in the following recently:

On October 22, 1999, I had the misfortune of losing my beloved Emma, a small brindle mastiff, in an accident. It wasn't until I began fostering Bull (now Bully) that I realized how integral it was to have a dog in my life. The MCOA has been extremely generous in giving me the opportunity to foster Bull, as well as allowing me to ultimately adopt him.

These past four weeks have been incredible. Bully and I are getting along wonderfully, and I'm learning to appreciate all of his mastiff idiosyncrasies. He looks forward to his daily long walks, weekend soccer games, and occasional treats from the neighborhood dessert cafe. I'm very much attached to this sweet and loving guy, and I look forward to many good times with him.
