Mastiffs that have been adopted

Emily & Charlotte

Emily & Charlotte
We (Pam and John) adopted two lovely mastiffs two years ago (Fostered by the Leibmanns in south Fla ) and have enjoyed seeing the adoption stories from others, so here is a another success story for the Mastiff page! Emily and Charlotte (otherwise known as the "Girls" by all their friends) have truly enjoyed their new home! Three cats to live with (one that occasionally sleeps with the Girls) were a new -- and sometimes exciting experience ; everyone survived with no damage and mutual respect for big feet and sharp claws. Obedience training went well and now they are among the best behaved dogs on the Quad when we go to play in the evenings! Best of all, Buddha, our daughter's Pug, has gotten Emily to play-- something these dogs just did not know how to do. It was an instant bond from the first moment we met them (a good thing, 10 hours in the Jeep to their new home) ; they have also adopted Wanda, Pam's mother, and spend a lot of time trying to talk her out of extra treats. The Girls also have their own circle of friends who stop by just to talk to them when they are in the neighborhood -- they seem to be making up for the years they spent just being breeders -- still a little shy of strangers, but just big love slugs once they are introduced! Thanks from all of us! Pam, John, Emily and Charlotte

Contact: Shannon Lora

MimiDear Shannon, First of all, I want to thank you. Mimi is wonderful. I can't imagine a time without her. She is the perfect companion, and a real sweetie. She goes everywhere I go. She follows and plops. When she isn't getting enough attention, she either smurfs me, or puts her head on my upper arm, looks up at me with those big brown eyes, and makes me feel ashamed of not paying attention to her. She is so sensitive to my right leg being different. She knows when it is hurting. She comes over and licks my knee. She lets me use her to steady myself when I get up. She just stands there very stiff and let me put my hand on her back. She doesn't play tug with me. (She does with mom, a little.) She just brings me her huge rope bone and opens her mouth when I say open. (She is so proud of learning OPEN, and doing it for me.) I toss the bone and off she goes. She runs along with the scooter, like she has been doing it for years. She always comes to me after she drinks or eats to have her mouth wiped. (I have baby diapers stashed everywhere.) That Galileo bone I got for her, is her second favorite toy. Her first is that black Kong, which she is able to flatten with one chew. Her health is great. The Frontline and the interceptor are working fine. Ticks are everywhere around here, but not on her. Her bullet wound is almost invisible on both sides, and her hair has grown back, just a height difference now. Her water intake and her weight is fine, so the chance of any complications from the shot is nil. Her and Smudge are good buddies. Smudge rolls over on his back and Mimi lays down and just licks, smurfs his belly. Smudge loves that. He has this thing about having his belly rubbed. Mimi also loves to have her belly rubbed, and since I can't get on the floor with her. She has taught me to rub her belly while she is standing up. She smiles at me. I swear the sides of her mouth goes up. Well I think I have probably bored you by now.

Thanks a lot, Diana & Mimi Mimi 2

Peaches - 7 year old, apricot female A.C. - 5 year old, very dark brindle male

Peaches and A.C. have a new home in Martinsburg, WV with a couple who also have a small poodlePeaches and AC named Brandy. They have a wonderful home with a big back yard and Lisa and Mickey are very happy to have them. They have someone home with them almost all the time and are getting along well with Brandy. They have been to the groomers and may be featured in the groomers' ad. We are very happy to have been able to place them together!

Peaches and A.C. are a pair. Peaches is a 7 year old apricot female with a very sweet disposition. She is very playful but will take some time to warm up to a new family. A.C. (named for Atlantic City) is a 5 year old very dark brindle who has had his tail docked. He is a scamp and loves to steal a hat or glove and run with it. Both like children but may jump [especially A.C.] and be too rough for small children. They were given up because their owner is getting a divorce and being re-located by her company. We would like to keep them together but will consider separate adoptions.
