You were our Christmas puppy and the pick of the litter - we fought off another buyer to get you and your brother Logan. You were the first show quality dog we ever had and your antics delighted us (even when you and your brother peed on the Christmas tree). You were always so happy to see us when we came home, always barking a greeting, then spinning in circles to show your delight. Your favorite past time was looking for socks, and then eating them!

Your first seizure, at a year and a half of age, terrified us, but you knew it was coming and came to me for help (as you did for every seizure). When the seizure hit, I was holding you and was struck in the face with your head, which split my lip so badly I almost required stitches, the emergency vet treated us both that night. The vet(s) did every test imaginable but the conclusion was epilepsy.

The seizures were of the worst kind and came in 3 day clusters on a monthly basis. Despite all the medication, they could never be controlled. During that final set you were so exhausted you could no longer fight them off and went into status.

It broke our hearts but at only 2 1/2 yrs of age we had to place you at peace. My sole consolation is that as a direct result of sharing your experiences on the K-9 epilepsy list, a Rotweiller named Rock-man has lived seizure free since 4-98. May you live long and seizure free, Rock-man!

I will always wish there was more we could have done then. Now we will do all we can to help find a test and a cure so no one else will have to go thru this heartbreaking experience.
